PLANNING

We are excited to share the latest updates on the Konect62 project.

Our investment into this 136-acre employment site is well underway, and we are on track to create one of the best-connected, most sustainable manufacturing and distribution sites in the UK. This project not only builds on the rich legacy of the former Kellingley Colliery as an important employer but also promises to revitalise the area for the benefit of the local community.

The Phase 2 Planning Application was submitted to the Local Planning Authority in December 2023 and we are now awaiting their feedback on the plans.

The Proposals

Situated strategically at the intersection of the M62 and A1(M) motorways, Konect 62 provides optimal logistics support for manufacturing and distribution operations. The construction of the buildings will meet stringent sustainability standards, such as BREEAM Excellent certification.

Phase 2 of the project will include a variety of warehouse sizes and thus employment potential for the remainder of the site, as well as smaller F&B offerings for warehouse occupiers and the local community.

Phase 2 also expands the walking and cycling route around the estate and from Weeland road to the Canal towpath.
